This professional production will feature a brand new, semi-staged version of the musical, with new orchestrations and a revised libretto written in collaboration with London-based scriptwriter Joel Jenkins. The conductor and musical director will be Simon Hanson; the stage director will be Christopher Neil.

John Paul Jones is a historical epic on the life of the Scots-born hero of the American Revolution. With a melodic and uplifting score and a brisk storyline, the musical tells the incredible true story of Jones’ life – a tale of triumph and tragedy, love and loss, and the effect of one man’s consuming ambition on those closest to him.

Auditions

Auditions for 2 principal female roles and 5 principal male roles for the concerts will take place in Edinburgh on 19 and 20 August 2010. Rehearsals will take place each day in Edinburgh from 18-23 September. A fee of £500.00 will be paid to cover all rehearsals and the two performances.

Invest in the show

The two concerts of John Paul Jones in Edinburgh in September 2010 are just the start of an exciting and ambitious project to present a professional UK tour of a new fully-staged version of the show. If the tour is successful, the aspiration is to then take the show forward to London's West End and international presentation.

Our vision is to create a Scottish-based professional touring company, capable of presenting the musical to the very highest international standards. We are seeking cultural investors willing to invest a minimum of £5,000 in this project. To register for a prospectus, with absolutely no obligation, please send an email to invest@poor-richard.co.uk. Those registering for an investment prospectus will be entitled to receive two free tickets to a concert performance of their choice.

Who are we?

The present production is presented by Julian Wagstaff of Poor Richard Productions (the composer) and David Williams of Theatrical Solutions (former General Manager of Scottish Ballet).
